MY FLORIDA PUBLIC RECORDS CORRUPTION

THIS WEBSITE IS TO EXPOSE OVERCHARGING AND GOUGING CORRUPTION IN THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF GOVERNOR DeSANTIS

THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF GOVERNOR DeSANTIS IS ATTEMPTING TO ILLEGALLY DENY ACCESS TO LESS THAN $20 DOLLARS WORTH OF EMBARRASSING PUBLIC RECORDS BY TRYING TO CHARGE A TOTAL ESTIMATE OF $978.00 DOLLARS.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY REQUESTED PUBLIC RECORDS WOULD NOT COST MORE THAN 20 BUCKS IF CHARGED CORRECTLY. IN THE PAST UNDER TWO DIFFERENT FLORIDA GOVERNORS I HAVE REQUESTED THESE SAME RECORDS AND SINCE IT TOOK THEM 10 MINUTES TO COMPUTER LOCATE THE COMPARTMENTALIZED RECORDS AND THE PAGES WERE SO FEW THAT THERE WAS NO CHARGE. NOW THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE TO USE COPY PAPER AND POSTAGE TO GET THE REQUESTER THE RECORDS THEY SIMPLY HIT A MOUSE BUTTON AND THE FILES GO OUT. THERE IS NOTHING TO REDACT SO THE LEGAL REVIEW OF 12 HOURS FOR $33.65 PER HOUR EQUALS $403.80 FOR DOING NOTHING IS UNETHICAL AND PROBABLY NOT LEGAL AND A SICK RIPOFF. THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IS TRYING TO CHARGE FOR THE STAFF RESOURCES TO LOOK FOR THESE RECORDS AT 12 HOURS $47.90 PER HOUR EQUALS $574.80. lAST TWO TIMES THOSE GOVERNOR'S OFFICES SAID IT TOOK MINUTES TO LOCATE THESE RECORDS.

SO THE OPEN RECORDS DEPARTMENT IS TRYING TO CHARGE A THOUSAND BUCKS FOR LESS THAN 20 DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC RECORDS.

NOTHING SAYS OPEN GOVERNMENT MORE THAN GETTING A BILL TO GET THE RECORDS FOR $978.60 FOR PUBLIC RECORDS PROVIDED TWICE FOR FREE IN THE PAST UNDER OTHER GOVERNORS

TWO PREVIOUS TIMES I REQUESTED THE SAME SET OF FLORIDA PUBLIC RECORDS FROM DIFFERENT GOVERNOR'S OTHER THAN DESANTIS. BOTH TIMES I WAS MESSAGED THAT SINCE THE SEARCH TOOK JUST A FEW MINUTES AND SINCE THERE WAS SUCH FEW PAGES OF RECORDS THEY SENT THOSE FOR NO COST. NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE $978.00 FOR THE SAME RECORDS THE STATE SAID COST NOTHING BECAUSE SO LITTLE TIME WAS TAKEN TO LOCATE THE PITTANCE OF RECORDS. WHAT ARE THEY HIDING THAT THEY DON'T WANT THE REQUESTER OR THE PUBLIC TO SEE? THEY DON'T WANT TO PRODUCE THESE RECORDS PER THE LAW BECAUSE THEY ARE EMBARRASSING TO DESANTIS. OF COURSE THEY CAN CHARGE FOR THEIR TIME, IF WARRANTED BY THE AMOUNT OF THE REQUEST BUT IN THIS CASE THE PRICE TO GET THE RECORDS IS NOTHING BUT AN ABUSE AND FRAUD ON THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT. SO THEY ARE TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT BY THWARTING VALID PUBLIC RECORD REQUESTS BY TRYING TO MAKE THE PRICE SO HIGH THAT THE REQUESTER SIMPLY IS NOT GOING TO PAY TO GET RIPPED OFF BY THE STATE. HOWEVER, A SUIT FOR DECLARTORY JUDGMENT ASKING THE CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE TO VIEW IN CAMERA THE REQUESTED RECORDS AND DETERMINE IF THAT PITTACE OF RECORDS DESERVES A $978.00 RIP OF FEE. NOTHING SAYS THE OFFICE OF OPEN GOVERNMENT PUBLIC RECORDS IS OPEN TO PUBLIC TO TRY TO CHARGE $978.60 FOR LESS THAN 20 BUCKS OF RECORDS.

TIMELINE: On July 24, 2023 I sent an email requesting public records to Florida Governor Desantis's Office. 2 months later on September 24, 2023 since I still had not been provided the requested public records by the Governor's Office I emailed again to see where the records were. On September 27, 2023 the Governor's Office emailed back that since they were inundated with requests they had not gotten to my request yet even after 2 months. On December 7, 2023 3 1/2 months after my initial public records request still no records. This is shameful. Public records should not take 3 1/2 months. This was just an illegal stalling tactic. Since the information that would be revealed in the requested public records is embarrassing and politically revealing to the Governor and more likely than not implement the governor in a state law violation then that requires the Governor's Office put a $1000.00 charge on 20 bucks of records for their political expediency over transparent public records. On December 8, 2023 4 1/2 months after the original public records request I received this public record message from the Governor's Office:

On Fri, Dec 8, 2023 Desantis.OpenGovernment wrote:

"Good afternoon,

The Office of Open Government receives an extremely high volume of public record requests. There are many requests that are far older than yours that we are still processing.

Consequently, your specific requests will require an extensive use of agency personnel and time, as well as information technology resources, to retrieve and review the documents responsive to your request and ensure compliance with the exemptions under section 119.071, Florida Statutes, and applicable law. Therefore, an initial labor deposit is being assessed pursuant to section 119.07(4)(d), Florida Statutes for 50 percent of the total cost estimate, at an initial labor deposit of $489.30. Please note that we estimate these requests may require multiple hours or more of review at appropriate hourly rates.

Pursuant to Florida Public Records Act, section 119.07(4), Florida Statutes, please provide us with a check in the total amount of $489.30 made payable to Executive Office of the Governor and sent to my attention at 400 S Monroe Street, Suite 209, Tallahassee, FL 32399.

Upon receipt of the aforementioned check, this office will begin to review responsive records. Once the responsive records have been reviewed, this office will send you an additional invoice for the remainder of the cost required to produce the documents. Upon receipt of payment in full, we will forward to you the documents responsive to your request. Due to the scope of your public records request, we estimate that the production of these records will take an extensive amount of time to complete.

Sincerely, Office of Open Government"

"Due to the scope of your public records request, we estimate that the production of these records will take an extensive amount of time to complete." The same Public Records request with past governors took 10 minutes. Either Governor DeSantis has the most inept office staff that it takes them an extensive amount of time that other governor's staffs took 10 minutes to locate or more likely than not a purposeful attempt by Governor DeSantis Office to thwart and circumvent the Public Records Act which more likely than not show a state law violation. What is there to hide?

HALF OR 50% OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS REQUESTED THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IS ATTEMPTING TO EXTORT FOR $489.30 TO PRODUCE THESE DOCUMENTS THAT ARE CLEARLY ALEADY POSTED ONLINE WITH NO REDACTIONS AS THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE CLAIMED IS NEEDED 12 HOURS OF FEES FOR ATTORNEYS TO REDACT WHAT NEEDED TO BE REDACTED. THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ATTEMPTING TO CHARGE $489.30 FOR PUBLIC RECORDS ALREADY MADE PUBLIC ON THE INTERNET IS A GOUGE, RIPOFF AND ILLEGAL ABUSE OF THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT.

THE FLORIDA PUBLIC RECORDS COST RECOVERY PROGRAM STATES THAT: "Many easily accessible records are available online for no charge. We will continue to add documents and information as we identify some of the most frequently requested public records. We will help direct you to free, online sources whenever possible."

THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE CERTAINLY DID NOT MIND TRYING TO EXTORT BIG FEES FOR PRODUCING A PUBLIC RECORD ALREADY POSTED ONLINE. APPARENTLY THE GOVERNOR'S PUBLIC RECORD REQUEST EMPLOYEES DID NOT DIRECT ME TO FREE ONLINE PUBLIC RECORDS SOURCES INSTEAD THEY HAD THEIR HEAD UP THEIR @SS AND TRIED TO EXTORT BIG MONEY INSTEAD OF DIRECTING ME TO WHERE 50% OF THE REQUESTED RECORDS WERE ALREADY FREE POSTED ONLINE. RIP-OFFS ARE AS RIP-OFFS DO! SOMETHING TELLS ME THAT THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE HAS NOT HEARD THE LAST OF THIS.

[978.60 FOR $20.00 OF COMPARTMENTALIZED FLORIDA PUBLIC RECORDS IS A RIPOFF!]

[FLORIDA PUBLIC RECORDS RIPOFF!]

[PUBLIC RECORDS IS A KEEP AWAY GAME]

IF THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR DOES NOT WANT TO EXPOSE THE GOVERNOR TO POSSIBLE EMBARRASSING AND POLITICALLY REVEALING PUBLIC RECORDS GOVERNOR DESANTIS OFFICE SIMPLY ABUSES THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT AND PUTS A PRICE ON A PUBLIC RECORD SO ILLEGALLY AND ILLEGITIMATELY HIGH THAT THE REQUESTER IS ILLEGALLY THWARTED FROM GETTING THE REQUESTED PUBLIC RECORD. THIS IS ANTITHETICAL TO THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT. AS WAS STATED ABOVE A SUIT FOR DECLARATORY JUDGMENT WHERE THE JUDGE LOOKS AT THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS AND DETERMINES IF THEY WOULD INDEED COST 978.60 TO PRODUCE. REMEMBER THAT THESE RECORDS CAN BE DELIVERED VIA EMAIL WITH NO COPY PAPER NOR SNAIL MAILING CHARGES. REMEMBER THAT TWICE IN THE PAST THESE RECORDS WERE SO SMALL THAT THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS CHARGES, NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE $978.60. WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO HIDE BY CHARGING $978.60 FOR LESS THAN 20 BUCKS OF PUBLIC RECORDS. WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO HIDE IS POLITICALLY REVEALING AND EMBARRASSING TO GOVERNOR DeSANTIS SO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IS TRYING TO THWART SAID PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST WITH AN UNLAWFUL AND RIDICULOUS CHARGE OF $978.00. WHEN THIS GETS TO A JUDGE HE IS GOING TO LOOK AT THOSE RECORDS IN CAMERA AND LAUGH AT THE GROSS $978.60 CHARGE FOR THE SO CALLED 24 HOURS OF "WORK".

[REPORT WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE IN FLORIDA GOVERNMENT]

[FLORIDA STATUTE 16.60 PUBLIC RECORDS MEDIATION PROGRAM WITHIN THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

DOES GOVERNOR DeSANTIS WANT A SIMPLE PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST THAT SHOULD COST NO MORE THAN 20 BUCKS CHARGED BY HIS OFFICE $978.60 TO TURN INTO A PUBLIC RELATIONS PUBLIC RECORDS NIGHTMARE! NOTHING SAYS OPEN GOVERNMENT LIKE THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE TRYING TO CHARGE A RIP OFF FEE OF $978.60 FOR WHAT WAS PROVIDED FOR FREE UNDER TWO PRIOR GOVERNOR'S OFFICES AND WHAT NOW IS 505 OF THE REQUESTED PUBLIC RECORDS ALREADY POSTED FOR FREE ONLINE. THWARTING THE PUBLIC RECORD ACT BY SEVERE OVERCHARGING IS NOT GOING TO GO OVER WELL WITH THE PUBLIC. BUT THEN AGAIN THESE RECORDS ARE REVEALING AND EMBARRASSING TO GOVERNOR DeSANTIS SO THAT IS WHY THERE IS A FEE OF $978.00 TO GET A PITTACE OF RECORDS. IF THE GOVERNOR DOES NOT WANT YOU TO SEE CERTAIN PUBLIC RECORDS THEN THERE IS AN HUGE RIP-OFF FEE SO HIGH THAT WILL STOP ANYONE FROM WANTING TO PAY THE RIF OFF ROBBERY FEE. NOT TO WORRY THE COURT IS THERE FOR DECLARATORY JUDGMENTS IN SUCH PUBLIC RECORDS ACT ABUSE CASES. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL ALSO HAS A MEDIATION FOR DISPUTES OVER PUBLIC RECORD ACCESS AND FEES. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SAYS TO CONTACT HER OFFICE IF YOU EXPERIENCE BEING GOUGED IN FLORIDA. THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IS ATTEMPTING TO ILLEGALLY GOUGE A TAXPAYER FOR REQUESTING PUBLIC RECORDS HALF OF WHICH ARE ALREADY POSTED ONLINE FOR FREE WITH NO REDACTIONS. WE ARE NOT GOING TO LET GOVERNOR DESANTIS OFFICE ABUSE THE PUBLIC RECORDS ACT AND RIP US OFF FOR $978.60 FOR A PITTANCE OF RECORDS PROVIDED BY OTHER GOVERNORS FOR NO FEE IN THE PAST. REMEMBER THAT 50% OF THE REQUESTED PUBLIC RECORDS ARE ALREADY POSTED ON THE INTERNET BUT THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IS ATTEMPTING TO EXTORT 978,60 FOR RECORDS HALF OF WHICH ARE ALREAD POSTED ON THE INTERNET! THE GOVERNOR MAY WANT TO LOOK FOR SOME NEW MORE COMPETANT OFFICE EMPOLYEES THAT DON'T MAKE HIS OFFICE LOOK LIKE CRAP!
